Alex Dorscheid -

Co-President

Alex is a going into his final year of a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance and minoring in Accounting. He has been very involved throughout his time at school, where he served on the University of Alberta Board of Governors as the undergraduate representative from 2022-2023 and was a member of the JDC West debate team from 2022-2023. In addition to Alex serving as Co-President of UAAC, Alex also serves as the 2023-2024 Debate Captain of Alberta JDC West, and is a goalkeeper on the U of A Golden Bears Varsity Soccer team. Alex is looking forward to leading one of the most important clubs on campus and is excited to see the impact he can make in the lives of U of A accounting students.

 
 

Kate Yaroslavtseva -

Co-President

Kate is a 5th year BCom Co-op student, majoring in Finance, and minoring in Accounting. This is her 3rd year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. Kate joined UAAC because she wanted to learn about taxes, join a fun and friendly group of students united by the same ambition, and get to know about the world of accounting. Her goal as a Co-President is to connect business students with top firms in the accounting industry. Throughout her undergraduate degree Kate has been a part of multiple clubs, organized numerous events, was an active volunteer in student life and participated in International case competitions.

 

Allan Solomon -

VP Academic

Allan is currently in his 3rd year of his BCom degree studying general business studies, as he has yet to officially decide on which major to pursue. This is Allan's 1st year on the UAAC executive team; he previously participated with UAAC’s 2023 tax clinic, as a volunteer tax reporter. Following his time spent working at the local accounting firm Kingston Ross Pasnak (KRP) over the summer, Allan is extremely excited to bring his skills and experience to the club. Allan is responsible for organizing and overseeing the club's academic portfolio and case competitions.

 
 

Angela Meng - A

cademic Director

Angela is a 4th year student majoring in Accounting and is also pursuing the Cooperative Education Program. This is her 1st year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club; she joined UAAC because of the wonderful learning and networking opportunities that it provides to all business students. She is looking forward to all of the exciting events that UAAC will be hosting this year as well building relationships with fellow students and corporates. Angela is also the VP Marketing of the Cooperative Students' Education and in her free time she enjoys reading, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.

Armaghan Nabi - A

cademic Director

My name is Armaghan Nabi and I am going into my 5th year as an accounting major at the UofA. This is my first year with UAAC but I always had my eyes on being part of this club as an accounting major just was not able to find time to accommodate in my schedule. Now in my final year I was able to do so and I am super excited to be part of the academic portfolio this year and assist in the case writing process for students to present their innovative solutions and gain valuable case experience! I am also part of JDC West as an OM delegate as well as events director for the Business of sports club!

Melodie Lavoie - VP

Events

Melodie is in her 4thyear of her business degree with a major in Accounting. This is her 2nd year as part of UAAC. She joined the club because it offers amazing opportunities to students and corporates alike to grow their network and make the most of the university experience. When she is not studying, she enjoys reading and trying new restaurants.

Rycon Blaire Balagot - E

vents Director

Rycon is a 4th year accounting student with a minor in business technology management. It is his 1st year at UAAC and the reason he joined this student club is to have more presence and leave a positive impact to his fellow accounting students and to the business faculty. Together with the events team, he is looking forward to creating and managing events that will connect professionals to university students.

Haris Sheikh - E

vents Director

Haris is in his 3rd year of his Accounting degree; this is his 1st year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. He joined UAAC because it provides business students with valuable professional and personal growth opportunities. He is looking forward to attending all the UAAC events to meet new people and learn about the opportunities available out there. Haris is also part of the co-op program.

Rayla Walters - VP

External

Rayla is in her 4th year of her accounting degree; this is her 2nd year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. She joined UAAC because it helps bridge the gap between students and the corporate world; providing students with much needed connections and opportunities. She is looking forward to the events UAAC has to offer this year!

Chloe Thirsk - E

xternal Director

Chloe is in her fourth year of her Accounting Degree; this is her first year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. She joined UAAC as a way to connect with other business students and learn about their experiences. After attending UAAC events in the past and making great connections with students and firms alike, she is excited to help other students experience the same!

Zane Antia -

VP Finance

Zane is a third year accounting student. This is his second year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. He joined UAAC because he wanted to explore the various options available to him in the world of accountancy. He was originally a finance major but after attending a couple of UAAC events where he got to meet and speak with different people he decided that accounting was the right field for him. He is looking forward to the events UAAC will be hosting this year, especially the new ones.

Somya Tiwari -

VP Internal

Somya is this year’s VP internal relations with UAAC. She is currently a major in finance and minor in business law. This will be her third year on the UAAC team. Somya is excited to learn and has enjoyed time with each member of the club. Somya is also a part of many different clubs and does many case competitions!

Isabella Yue - VP

Marketing

Isabella is a 2nd year Accounting Major; this is her 1st year with UAAC. She is excited to be a part of UAAC’s numerous events and looks forward to connecting with like-minded individuals. Isabella is also a member of Women in Business. 

Omar Habibzai - M

arketing Director

Omar is in his 4th year of his Business Law and Economics degree; this is his 1st year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club. He joined UAAC because it gives him the chance to use his passion for creating meaningful opportunities for business students and for building long lasting relationships with new people. He is looking forward to all of the events UAAC has to offer this year. In his free time, Omar likes to watch hockey and listen to music on his record player!

Melanie Jubinville - VP

Tax

Melanie is a 3rd year BCom student majoring in Accounting. She volunteered during UAAC's Tax Clinic last March and decided that she wanted to be even more involved! As this year’s VP Tax, Melanie aims to continue the work of growing the Tax Clinic post-COVID and is excited to see the ways UAAC enlivens campus this year. In her free time, Melanie loves to make music and to socialize with her friends.

Kaitlyn Benvenuto - T

Kaitlyn is in her 3rd year as an accounting major at the University of Alberta. This is Kaitlyn’s first year apart of the University of Alberta Accounting Club. Kaitlyn is looking forward to the Annual Tax Clinic where she can learn and utilized different skills while providing valuable assistance to the university community. Kaitlyn is also apart of the Networking of Empowered Women Team.

Sophia Danesik - T

Sophia is going into her 3rd year of business with a major in accounting and a minor in finance. She is a co-op student and joined UAAC because it provides valuable networking opportunities for students to find co-op/summer jobs and offering tax clinic volunteering. Sophia is also a member of Women in Business.

Krishna Makkar - T

Introducing Krishna, a dedicated second-year Finance student at the University of Alberta. With a strong desire for educating others, Krishna eagerly anticipates sharing valuable tax planning insights to empower individuals to make informed financial decisions. This marks Krishna's second year with the University of Alberta Accounting Club (UAAC), having previously volunteered as a tax reporter for last year's tax clinic. As the VP Finance for AIESEC in Edmonton and Finance Manager at PlantForever.org, Krishna has honed his financial management skills, fostering a solid foundation for their endeavours.
